Travelling between Bengaluru and Mysuru is going to get a lot easier with the opening of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, set to be inaugurated on March 12.
PM Narendra Modi, who will be in Karnataka on March 12, will inaugurate and dedicate the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to the nation.
The Bengaluru Mysuru Expressway, which encompasses a portion of NH-275, is 118 kilometres long.
The project also entails the development of four rail overbridges, nine significant bridges, 40 minor bridges, and 89 underpasses and overpasses.
The infrastructure project will reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru from around 3 hours to about 75 minutes.
Union minister Nitin Gadkari said the expressway aims to improve accessibility to Shrirangpatna, Coorg, Ooty, and Kerala, thereby bolstering their tourism potential.
"An important connectivity project which will contribute to Karnataka’s growth trajectory," PM Modi said about the project, developed in the poll-bound state.
The Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway has been developed at a total cost of around Rs 8,480 crore, a government statement said.
The project involves 6-laning of the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta-Mysuru section of NH-275 and will act as a catalyst for the socio-economic development of the area.
