Janmashtami 2022: Traditional Gopalkala Recipe
Gopalkala is a traditional Maharashtrian dish that is offered as a bhog to Lord Krishna on Janmashtami.
1 cup poha, cup curd, , 2 tbsp grated coconut, 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds, 2 tbsp boiled corn.
Ghee, tsp mustard, tsp cumin, tsp chana dal, 1 inch ginger, 5 curry leaves and 1 green chilli.
Soak poha for a minute and quickly drain all the water to prevent it from getting soggy.
In a bowl, add curd along with salt and whisk it well. Mix this curd with the poha.
Now add chopped cucumber, grated coconut, pomegranate seeds, boiled corn and coriander leaves to the mixture.
For tempering, heat ghee in a tadka pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin, chana dal, curry leaves, green chilies.
Pour the tempering on the poha mixture and cover with a lid to trap the aroma.
Your traditional Gopalkala dish is now ready to be served.
