Suriya was wished a happy birthday by many stars and told that he deserves a national award on this special day.
As Tamil star Suriya won big at the 68th National Film Awards on Friday, he thanked his family, fans and colleagues for their love and support.
At the 68th National Film Awards for 2020 announced on July 22, Tamil film 'Soorarai Pottru' won the National Award for Best Feature, Best Actor and Best Actress. Additionally, Shalini Usha Nair and Sudha Kongara won Best Screenplay and GV Prakash Kumar won Best Music Direction (Background Score) for the film.
On his official Twitter account, Suriya posted a lengthy message expressing his gratitude to his well-wishers. “We are ecstatic to receive the five national awards for Soorarai Pottru. Thanks so much for your love and good wishes. A pandemic pandemic has caused our eyes to well up in joy at the overwhelming reception for our film, which was released directly through OTT during the pandemic. 'Soorarai Pottru' has been recognized by the national cinema board. It is a testament to Sudha Kongara's years of hard work and creative vision of Captain Gopinath's story," Suriya said in his statement.He congratulated all the winners of the film, including Aparna Balamurali (Best Actress), GV Prakash (Background score), Sudha Kongara and Shalini Usha Nair (Best Screenplay).

The filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, wife of Nayanthara, wrote: "Thank you for making the Tamil film industry proud of @Suriya_offl sir @Sudha_Kongara mam @Aparnabala2 @gvprakash for #SooraraiPottru."
As well as celebrating the win, Keerthy Suresh expressed his congratulations to the team, saying, "Heartiest congratulations to @Suriya_offl sir and #TeamSooraraiPottru for sweeping 5 awards in the 68th National Film Awards. Congratulations to @Sudha_Kongara mam and @gvprakash too.".
